There is a wealth in Turkey that is never exhausted – thousands of kilometers of coastline, the sun and sea, and the Aegean coast is considered to be a "turquoise necklace"of Turkey. Here there is more sun, more clean beaches, more large pine forests, ancient ruins and legends than anywhere else!
This is one of the most unique places on the planet, "the window to the outside world" of the Ottoman Empire as it was once called. This is one of the cradles of the ancient Greek and later Byzantine civilizations. The Aegean coast is simply strewn with lots of beautiful bays. The ancients Greeks, who started to settle on the Aegean coast of Turkey, were the first to appreciate these bays thousands of years ago. The Greeks were replaced by dozens of other nations, as time went on, and only one thing remained unchanged – the Aegean Sea. The name "Aegean" has belonged to the sea since ancient times. According to one version, the Aegean Sea was named after the Greek city Aegeya or in honor of the Queen of the Amazon tribe, who, according to the legend, had drowned in the sea. There is another legend about the name of the sea, which states that Aegeus, the father of Theseus, went into the sea and drowned when he had learned of his son’s death.
The climate of the Aegean coast of Turkey is characterized by its consistency. It is typical Mediterranean. There is no abrupt change in weather from good to bad and vice versa, several times per day. The average temperature in the hottest months (July, August) reaches +37° C, while in the coldest months (January, February) + 17° C. The Aegean Coast is often compared to the paradise because of one thing. The thing is "imbate”. This is what is called by the locals “the summer breeze” – a breeze that blows from the sea in the morning and the evening, stopping only when the sun sets. Thanks to the "imbate", it is always fresh on the coast and the summer heat is practically not felt. The Aegean Sea is considered the cleanest of the four seas surrounding Turkey. It is often possible to meet the Mediterranean tortoise. It is an indicator of the purity of the environment. The resorts of the Aegean Sea are the perfect places to relax. Clean beaches (both pebble and sand) stretching for many kilometers are fully equipped for sunbathing and water sports. Of course, the Aegean coast is not only the climate and the sea. A lot of exciting excursions are worth mentioning. The Aegean coast has much to offer. This is Kusadasi, or a "bird island", which was the place of deployment of the pirates of the Aegean Sea. This is also the ancient towns of Ephesus and Miletus. This is the famous temple of Artemis of Ephesus burnt by Herostrat. By the way, several columns of the temple survived. Visiting Ephesus, you will find yourself in an ancient Greek town, restored by the architects on the rests of the real town. Here you will see a real library of Celsius – the Roman governor of Asia Minor ... And, of course, Ephesus – the House of the Virgin Mary. Mother of Christ, spent here the last years of her life. Miletus today is the temple of Apollo, which was declared the eighth Wonder of the World. And also Izmir – the pearl of the Aegean coast of Turkey, and many other attractions.
